KIWIBURN

My first Burn! I guess when you go to a burn you really don't know what to expect but I can honestly say that the glow from my first Burn was unlike the afterglow you get with any other festival. You really do feel outside of the sometimes claustrophobic confines of everyday life. There's no money, there's no advertising, just an open and welcoming environment where literally everyone you bump into greets you with a smile and you feel genuine good wishes from within.

Here's a series of portraits I made wandering around in the late afternoon New Zealand sun, looking for the quiet moments amongst the glade of poplar trees between the top paddock hosting the effigy and the cooling Rangitikei River. For anyone interested I used a Mamiya RB67 and Ektar 100 to shoot these images. All images were taken with consent.
